Waiting: An Expressive Love Towards Thee

Can we exist for the Divine?

Do we have the courage and faith to offer our body, mind and heart for the Divine to take over us as a laboratory for change?

“But what grandeur, what sovereign beauty lie in the depth of this outer anguish all formed of narrow egoism; what splendour dwells within this waiting, grown sacred through deep contemplation, when the walls of personal blindness have fallen and the individual consciousness has taken its flight into immensity to unite with Thy eternal consciousness.”

Prayers and Meditations, The Mother

Introduction

Waiting is a key aspect in sadhana. When we aspire for a change we will embark on some inner practices. This is our sincerity of effort. In addition, if we open ourselves and surrender to the Divine it is our sincerity in offering. Often, after doing both we become impatient. We notice that our health has not improved. Or our impurities remain the same. Or else sufficient growth and progress is not unfolding in parts of ourselves. We become impatient and forget to wait.

In sadhana we cannot order the Divine. We cannot say I have done my practice and surrendered. Now you do your part now, in the way I want. As sadhana gets subtle we understand that effort and surrender establishes a direct link between us and the Divine. Now the Divine knows what is best for us, how we need to be purified and made more a perfect instrument for His play.

Here, we need to wait. To wait as long or even forever if needed. Then we will receive. We need to wait with the flame of Agni lit inside us, but devoid of demands. Then our reception of Divine Grace is purer, fuller and true.

What we will explore

Connecting to Source: In a simple, sincere and direct way, learn to connect to Consciousness above the head, within the Cave of Heart, in the sacred depth of the  Inconscient below or to the subtle physical domain of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother

Conscious Effort: Explore simple steps of doing sadhana within your body and being – during concentration time and also alongside your daily activities

Agni, the eternal flame lit: Connect to the intensity, light, brightness and upward rising qualities of the Agni and keep this flame silently blazing within us towards the Divine

Waiting: Be with the practice alongside life. Remember to connect with the Divine. Offer your practice to the Divine Grace. Be patient. Be vigilant. When the Divine acts, be present so that the full receptivity can be there. Allow the Divine to mould you.

Love:

The wait is not something static. It is dynamic
Impregnated with Bhakti, love, trust and friendship with the Divine
With Courage, to shed away the old to receive the new
Like there is a joy filled in the whole being waiting for your human beloved

So much more love can be there in your whole being as you wait for the Divine
